New TOYS!

On the Ball: 30minutes
Run: 15minutes
Calories: 500

I tried a NEW class today, not new to the gym... just new to me. Its called 'On the Ball Express' its a 30 minute core exercise class. I wanted to try it, because I have a ball at home. So introduce the ball...

This class is a BALL! (pun INTENDED) Erin had has rolling all over the floor trying new things. All is based on core strength and balance. You balance leaning on the ball, kneeling on the ball, laying on the ball... then you pick up the ball and run with the ball. It's A LOT harder than it sounds. You spend most of the class giggling, because you're rolling all over the place trying to balance on top of the ball. At one point we had to lay on the ball and lift everything but one foot up... sounds easy - NO! I wobbled here and there and eventually ate it.

Then we pulled out a NEW toy (one i have never played with)... that sounds very dirty, but bare with me.

Introducing the Styrofoam tube...

It is EXACTLY what it sounds like. It's about a foot wide, 3 feet long and made of thick Styrofoam. We used it for crunches, stretching and more balance. It also looks harmless and simple, but proved to be more challenging then the ball. You lay on it, on your back... your head on one end and your bum on the other knees bent, feet flat on the floor. The you raise your knees up and crunch. You can imagine how much rolling around ensued... followed by an eruption of laughter.

It was a great class and I think I will make a habit of going.

I followed up with some running. I needed the cardio and I feel good about today's work-out.

I am still doing my crunches at night and I feel like they are making a difference. Have I even mentioned this before? Every night before bed I set my timer for 15 minutes and then I crunch until it beeps. I work up a sweat and get really warm, my abs cringe in pain... it helps me sleep and I think it may even help me digest my dinner.

PLUS I can keep it up on the cruise... I am hoping to at least level out for a week and NOT gain... I am VERY optimistic. That won't last.

Spinning with Erin tomorrow and then I am GONE!

Woo!

Love!

OUT of the PARK

Muscle Up: 45minutes
Calories: 538

Anissa is growing on me… like a sore muscle throbbing as it tries to repair the damage inflicted on it. A little too graphic? I could have said I like her more now than before, but that felt a little simple. Any who, Anissa; we didn’t hit it off on the right foot. She entered my life as the NEW manager, bumping my beloved Erin out of the top rank, the only place I had ever known her. Strike One. Then she filled in for Angela, the weight-lifting guru or all things heavy, and bombed. The class was bad… only because compared to Angela everyone sucks. Strike Two. Then her over perky attitude left me unsettled, she’s a very happy petite blonde and obviously I am jealous. I can admit it. Ball. Last pitch, the crowd is chanting AH-NISS-AH, AH-NISS-AH. She taps the dirt from her shoe and pulls back preparing for the next pitch… it’s a fast ball, the crowd gasps and -- BANG! She knocks it out of the park! Today’s class was awesome. My muscles are still quivering!

She kept me entertained and hard at work, never lingering too long on one core muscle group. It leaves you feeling accomplished and strong, because you don’t have to give up. You CAN keep going. The music was good and she even cracked a few jokes. It was a great class and a great addition to my work-outs this week.

Go ANISSA!

Tomorrow I am attempted to catch the 7:30am SPIN class… wish me luck. I have a lunch meeting, but I don’t want to miss my work-out. Ew. Just the thought of it is making my stomach turn.

Love!

Squat and LIFT!

Muscle Up: 60minutes
Calories: 500 ish

I have gotten into 'ish' because even reading (or re-typing) the exact number calculated by my iPhone is still only a little bit accurate.

I also felt like doodling vs. googling my picture for today's post.

I am not actually that skinny... if I was I wouldn't need this blog... now would I? I just couldn't accurately draw the rolls of fat around my middle. You could say I 'ish'ed' the picture like the calories.

Today's class was good... Anissa taught instead of Angela and although its very different I enjoy it. It's more like aerobics then weights, but with sore muscles from yesterday I welcomed the cardio.

She also (she's the gym manager or the 'GM') told us that the schedules were shifting... that's going to much up everything! I just got into a routine that works and they change it. Oh well... such is life.

Not much more to report... no silly thoughts or weird ephinany's... just me today. I might run tonight, but probably not. Probably a little R & R with Ricardo... well earned.

Love!
