First Day Back!

And I am doing good. I forgot my *crackers, which means no morning snack, but I'm good. I even made it down to the gym for a spin class. Actually I can't take all the motivational credit on that one... **Tim dragged me down to the gym. I am glad I went. I am glad I went with him, because I wouldn't have followed through if he hadn't challenged me. Today is Tuesday. Tuesday means Kerry is teaching and although I hate spin. I love Kerry, but Kerry wasn't here (or there) today. ***Ron was there. I tried to run in the other direction (on the treadmill of course), but Tim caught me and threw me on the bike. 45 minutes later and I am bored, his music is NOT spin worthy, but sweaty.

I feel good about myself and making it back to the gym... it did spark the gym-fiend inside of me and I can't wait for my next work out... which is a great segue into, tonight is my FIRST at home Nike Fit Club workout. Thanks to my new iPhone.

Look how fancy it looks.
This is a screen shot of tonight's work out.

Its an app I have used before, but lost because my old phone wasn't up to date enough to run the updated app. Any who... I have decided that every night after work I am going to take 60minutes for me, before I fall into the housewife roll of ****making dinner and prepping lunches. 60minutes will give me 30 minutes of weights and 30 minutes of relaxing... stretching, showering, lounging etc.

I think it is a great way to work on my muscle tone and keep my sanity.

Tonight should be interesting too... I will be home later than normal tonight. I have a Doctors appointment this afternoon. A he-needs-to-see-you-ASAP kind of doctors appointment. I am a little nervous, but at least we can a reason for all that ails me and hopefully it is something easy to fix. Cross your fingers for me... this thing in my neck is growing quickly and I want it resolved.

Ok... I am also in charge this week at work so I am a little overwhelmed with everything.

That being said... I have to run.

Love!

Day One...

I am getting the hang of this... finally. I actually had a satisfying dinner and am excited about my lunch. I am allowed a small amount of goat cheese everyday (1 ounce). I am going to abuse that right and eat goat cheese ALL THE TIME!

Last night I also quenched my thirst of bread... I found gluten-free, diary-free, sugar-free Millet loaf. It was alright... even good toasted with my scrambled eggs. It felt so good to sink my teeth in. I went to bed full... not just because I was congested, but because I had a full day of food and it felt good.

I think the underlying reason for all these food restrictions is to take food out of my every thought and make it JUST food. I can't focus on my diet because its not worth it... I don't dream about, drool about it or fantasize about it, but I think that's because swimming in a pool of chocolate is WAY better than a pool of gluten-free, sugar-free sludge. I am quickly becoming a person that eats to live and doesn't live to eat... a sad realization, but I am happy to make changes to be healthy.

I even powered through spinning yesterday. I survived the entire class and felt good. I haven't done that in weeks... now if I could just shake this stupid cold I would be good.

Vitamin C is my very best friend and the tropical fruit chewables are just like candy ;)

Another day...

Wish me Luck.

Love!

Sorry!

I am feeling guilt like you wouldn't believe... oh my precious blog. The one that started it all... how can I neglect you so!

Especially when I have SO much to tell you.

First... I tried a new class, Cardio Strength with Angela. WOAH! It's Wednesday 2 days later and I am in pain... my muscles are SO sore. It feels good. Feels like I am getting somewhere.

Second... I did spin even with my VERY sore muscles.

Third... I had a Reiki appointment yesterday. How did that go you ask... Let me explain Reiki first. It's a no touch treatment that involves moving your energy around and finding balance. I don't know if I believe it, but I did feel something. You feel tingly and warm. She later explained I hold tension in my shoulders and forearms... She did her best in the time she had to MOVE it around and make me feel balanced. It did help my upset tummy and I did feel better afterwards, but I am, and always will be, a skeptic.

Fourth... I found a cupcake haven in my very own town! Last night I met with my favorite people to explore the new flavors. We had... Banana with Caramel, Devils Food Cake, Vanilla Sprinkle, Lemon dream, Red Velvet and Cookie's and cream. I did NOT eat 6 cupcakes... I ate a third of 6 cupcakes and every bite was better than the last... Mmm.... best dinner ever.

In case you're curious... http://justcupcakes.ca/
I don't feel guilt. I have been having a terrible week of stress and frustration. I felt I earned a night with the girls to drink wine, eat cupcakes and bitch. It's a cleanse for the soul.

Everything is back in perspective today. I feel good... I also haven't begun to tackle the massive pile of papers on my desk, but I am enjoying my oatmeal and catching my breath.

I am still off of facebook, but I miss it. I am still non-dairy and I don't miss it. Hmm...

We're no closer to buying a house BUT we have a new realtor and a few places to see this weekend.

Wish me luck!

Love!

Where AM I???

Tuesday
Spinning: 45minutes

Calories: 839

For your viewing pleasure!

Wednesday (SNOW DAY)
Tobogganing: 25minutes (it was COLD)
Calories: 153

Pounds to Lose: 14

Thursday
Step it Up!: 45minutes
Calories: 688

All this house non-sense and snow business is clearly taking away from my blogging.

I am still making it to the gym... or to the bunny hills, which by the way TOBOGGANING is NOT what it used to be and Crazy carpets have gone downhill... literally ;)

I stayed home yesterday and worked from my warm, comfy bed. I love snow days. I also managed to lunch break on the snow hill, meet my girlfriends for lunch and go to the doctor (for a surprise pap, thanks).

We also have been battle with banking and borrowers about this mortgage business and its not pretty. Frankly I am exhausted, but I wouldn't dare miss Angela's step class... so, today I stopped the overflow of paper in my inbox and headed to the gym.

I am happy to say I kept up for the entire CLASS! Woo!

I am still successfully not consuming dairy. Actually I have never felt better... and already dropped weight. I am not sure if they're related, but it has definitely curbed my snacking... I am a sucker for crackers and cheese!

Hope this rambling mess all makes sense. I have to jet!

Wish me luck on the scales tomorrow.

As for January... I lost 4 pounds. I am happy with it, but wanted more... hopefully February and no dairy works out for me :)

All my love!

Wish me luck with the house, too! I need it.

Be afraid of Cardio Kerry

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 670

Woah! Kerry killed it today with cardio... I always love her spinning class, but today she dropped the strength training and went straight for the endless sprints and elevated heart rate.

My body is aching ALL over... it feels SO good.

Tonight is WEEK TWO of '100 push-ups'. I am already sore, but looking forward to the challenge.

The Resolutionists are fading... yay!! And I am once again on the elite 15... woo!

I am a wealth of information today... check out the link.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Hello 2011!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 720

Ok, as promised I am returning FULL force in the NEW YEAR... much like every resolutionist. Although I did manage to KEEP my resolution for the better part of the year so GO ME!

I did a WEIGH IN on Monday January 3rd... I am 219 pounds. Ew. I missed my mark of 200 by the end of the year. I am ok. I still lost 25 pounds and probably more, given my weigh in was after a night of drinking and eating for the New Year.

So I am making the SAME resolution... to lose weight and get healthy. This year I am hoping to lose 19 pounds by April 8th and another 15 by the end of the year. I think this is fair... Day One I am doing great... I am down .4 pounds and eating a healthy lunch.

I went to spinning as usual... I am not changing my work-out regime, just tightening up my diet.

Wish me luck.

I have 17 months and 27 days to do this... because I will be a size 9 for my wedding day January 1st 2012.

Happy New Year!

Check back for progress!

Love!

Spinning... the return!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 740

Wow! I didn't think it had been that long since I spun, but I couldn't keep up. I was panting and praying for class to end. My legs were burning and things were fuzzy. I couldn't get the water into my system fast enough.

I am thrilled at the work-out, but disappointed what after almost a year of going to spinning I STILL can't keep up. ARGH!

Oh well... its just another challenge. Like my small one for the end of November... to be under 10 again. That way I have a chance of hitting my one year goal. ARGH!

I also learned two things about myself... I love TUNA and I love PEANUT BUTTER. Both of which I can't seem to get enough of.

Another day is almost done. I am doing great with not snacking and I am proud of my progress.

I have muscles tomorrow and push-ups tonight.

I also learned that my entire life is better when the scale is dropping... I am SO miserable when I weigh more. It's odd how connected to my everyday life is. Let's keep dropping and get somewhere!

Love!

PS - I am 8 days into the month. I need to go to the gym 8 more times to be ELITE... can I do it?! Hope so!

First SPIN...

Spinning: 40minutes
Calories: 640

I swear I was sweating Pina Coladas! I was SO not ready for this class and SO disappointed in myself. I was gone for a week. I missed the gym for only a week (while walking EVERYwhere and swimming for hours every day) and I lost all my muscle. I hate Hypothyroid. It is really screwing with my routine.

I finished the class in a sweaty ball of Pina Colada goo.

Hopefully I fall back into the swing of things this week. I have a lunch on Thursday, but I will try and make it out for a run when I get home.
I also killed my Nike+ sensor... or better yet the x-ray machines did. That was interesting to explain to the airport security. "why do you have a sensor in your shoe?"

Anyways... officially today I am 6 pounds up from PRE vacation. I am still hoping to widdle that number down by Friday, but we'll see.

I am starting a NEW program (thanks to Loseit!) called 'hundred push ups'. It is a  week program that teaches how to do REAL push-ups. I have always hated my arms most of all and never find the time to work them out, because I tend to prefer cardio. I am hoping this schedule will be enough to kick start my arms... or 'punch' start my arms?

I will be posting my daily push-ups, once I get started... let's watch the numbers grow together... shall we?

Spinning... OW!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 620

Kerrie was FINALLY back, but I couldn't keep up today. It happen. I hurt myself. I knew it was coming, but I pushed anyways. I would suffer through anything to be skinny. I don't feel like ANYTHING is a good enough reason to stop… even with my knee throbbing I hobble to the gym. Ok… I am being a little over dramatic… my knee didn't look like this.

… I didn't need assistance to walk. I also didn't need to cry over a simple irritation, but my knee hurts. I went to spinning because it is easy on your joints, but still burns a lot of calories. I really want to drop at least 6 pounds in the next 3weeks (17 days).
Anyways, I am just celebrating my good sweat with…
… I know! How awesome is that?! It's made with SKIM MILK and only 90 calories.
Go me!

My knee is now throbbing… stupid knee.

AH! I have NO time...

Spinning: 40minutes
Calories: 640

Yes... only 40 minutes today. Kerrie was away... again and this week Erin filled in. Not GOOD Erin, but the other Erin. The Assistant manager of the gym who doesn't teach on a regular basis so doesn't have a routine worked out.
She also doesn't direct you... most instructors (for those unfamiliar with spin) tell you when to increase the tension and by how much. They also tell you when to go hard, when to recover etc. Erin doesn't she tells you. Its your work-out she simply cranks the bad 80s music and let's you ride for 40minutes. I didn't even leave early... she just stopped.

I shouldn't be so mean... really she jumped in last minute to prevent the class from being cancelled.

I got a work-out... not a great one, but I have BOOT CAMP tonight... the dreaded Hills in the rain. WOO!

Hopefully something happens, because I want to be down this week... PLEASE!

ERIN!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 723

I am SURE I burnt MORE calories than that!!! Erin doesn't let you rest... she doesn't slow down or recover. It is GO all the time. I hate it AND love it. I sweat more in her class than anything else I do -- including BOOT CAMP. My favorite part about her class... the music. I ALWAYS pull something out of the class and add it to my play list.

I thought it's been a while since we discussed music so... here it is. My running library. NOTE: I double up on my favorite songs.

<--- that's me 'pucker-faced' listening to music

Born to Be Alive - Disco Kings
Clear! - Kardinal Offishall
Memories - Ft. Kid Cudi
Pump it - Black Eyed Peas
Take it Off - Ke$ha
Clear! - Kardinal Offishall
Teeth - Lady Gaga (NEW TODAY)
Pump it - Black Eyed Peas
Shark in the Water - V.V. Brown (NEW TODAY)
I'm Running - ft. Sam Roberts
Just the Way you Are - Bruno Mars
If we Ever Meet Again - Timbaland ft. Katie Perry
That's Not my Name - The Ting Tings

And more.... but I don't usually make it that far into my list. As for cool down...

Call to Arms - Angels & Airwaves
Break Even - The Script
Glitter in the Air - Pink

Not that I use music Tuesday, Thursday or on the weekend... I have to have the list ready for when the running takes over my body and forcing me out of the house and on to the road. Lately that doesn't happen. Stupid Rain!

Also... I would like to thank a reader for pointing out the good in me... even in my 'before' picture. I never thought about it like that. I have always enjoyed life... at every size. So thank you for making me remember.

Three BOOT CAMPS this week... I have to do something to get back on track!

Love!

I am SO sleepy...

Spinning: 45 minutes
Calories: 725ish

Yup. I am think I am getting sick... I want to throw a temper tantrum from days past. You know the kicking screaming I-don't-want-to-do-this type of tantrum saved only for special occasions. Like not getting what you want for your birthday even though you've been a GOOD girl or when a certain client wants revision number 67 and doesn't say 'please'

Yup... as Richard would call it 'a stage nine snap fest'. Why does getting sick make me SO angry? Because it just gets in my way. I am on a roll and I don't need to be sick right now... or this week. I get SO frustrated when my body forces me to take a step back from my life. I just feel lazy and underwhelmed (I heard that was a word, but I can't figure out the context and it seems to fit with that thought).

***Does that cartoon make you want to yawn? I have been yawning since I drew it.

Let's get back on track and discuss my work-outs. I had spin today... I didn't want to be there. My tummy is upset and my head is cloudy, but I thought a good sweat might clear me up... my body translated that to a fever and chills... accompanied by sweat. That's for misinterpreting that request!

By this BLOG you can tell I don't feel better... in fact, I feel worse knowing that I have BOOT CAMP tonight. No rain checks allowed. I have to go, but not giving 100% doesn't seem worth the cost.

Speaking of cost... we got approved - WOOT! For what you ask? A mortgage... yup! Richard and I are going to buy a house... a home... a place AWAY from his parents. WOOT! We don't know when, we want to save up some more to make the transition smoother AND to allow some serious furniture buying once we find our home.

Speaking of home... I will be sailing away from home for 8 days! Yup, 8 days on the open sea... salt in the air and a drink in my hand. The cruise is booked. We're leaving early October and travelling to... San Juan, Puerto Rico -- St. Thomas, Usvi -- Antigua -- Tortola, Bvi -- Nassau, Bahamas and PORTing in Ft Lauderdale, FL. It's been quite the year of travel for me... I couldn't be happier. And let's just hope SOMEONE gets that memo about proposing on a cruise being UBER romantic... wink wink.

Ok... I have rambled enough.

I am going to go pop some Vitamin C's and hope for the best... you can't overdose on C can you???

Love!

DOUBLE day and I am excited!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 739

I have a lot of things running through my pretty little head. I was so excited to hit the gym today... I feel SO close to my goal... I just want to RUN to it -- literally. I have been lucky enough to loose 2 pounds a week for 3 weeks. I am hoping keeping to the same diet and routine will garner another 6 pounds of loss. All that being said, I am finally on the path to better health... what I mean is in 6 pounds I will be lower than I ever have been in my adult life. That to me is surreal.

I have tried and failed to loose weight my ENTIRE life. I've been sucked into FAD diets and FAD weight loss secrets. I have starved myself and purged. I have done everything insane you could do to get fit... I would be willing to stand on my head for 365 days, naked in the rain if you told me it would help me loose weight. I just want to be fit and not worry everyday about my health.

I feel like this time I can do it... and I am not on a FAD diet or exercise regime. I am actually just eating well and going to the gym... novel concept. I hate that it took 27 years of life to except there is no 'easy' way of doing things. No quick fix that works... I can only hope when I have teenage girls I can instill that into them. Although I think I will adapt this NEW healthy lifestyle into my children's life to prevent them from having this battle.

Side note... can you hear the biological clock ticking????

Spin class was AWESOME. Erin is insane... there is no break and no recovery. You go hard for 45 minutes. She never lets you release the tension or slow down. At one point I had to stop... I had pushed SO hard I couldn't breath... literally.

I think i am getting sick... everyone around me seems to be. I have been congested the last few nights. My throat is scratchy and my stomach is off. I can't be sick... argh! I need to beef up the Vitamin C in my diet and hope for the best.

I all OVER the place... oh and drew a NEW picture for my SPIN days... what do you think?

Weigh in tomorrow and BOOT CAMP tonight. Wish me luck!

Love!

back to BOOT CAMP!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: lots!

Whewf... I only have a few seconds to write as I am feeling very frantic with the pile of papers on my desk... it appears to be growing faster then it is depleting. I still managed to sneak away to hit SPINNING. I am really going to have to make an effort come fall to stick with my schedule... It's all to often I work through lunch to keep on top of things.

I guess that attribute to my overall mood. I am tenfold compared to yesterday, but still feeling off. Like my body isn't mine and I can MAKE it do these things it USED TO enjoy, but my hearts not in it. It's that time of the month (not THAT time of the month), but once a month I use focus and get distracted... I am tired all the time and bloated. I feel defeated and anxious... this is that time. I am trying to work through it as I would normally hide under a rock until it was over... I guess its personal growth - yay me!

Ok... spinning was good. I am glad I went, but I am more excited about BOOT CAMP tonight and the results tomorrow... well, I am as excited as a lazy FAT girl could be - HA!

Love!

Ps - have you noticed my little weight loss chart? Cool eh? I try to update daily... I hate all the fluctuations, but I can't celebrate the victories with out acknowledging the defeats.

Last BOOT CAMP tonight *sad face*

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 753

Today was a free-for-all. I didn't have a plan beyond... whatever Sandi was doing, I was doing. I brought gym clothes and prepared for something. Thursday are always a little iffy. I never know whether to run or take a class. Spin is good when its the good instructor, but its often a substitute. Body Blast is great, but not as much cardio as I would like and Running... I am typically sore and tired by Thursday PLUS I have BOOT CAMP tonight so I don't want to over work my legs.

Anyways... we decided to chance SPIN class and I am SO GLAD we did. Erin taught today... she is the toughest teacher... there is no break, no recovery... for 45minutes you are going FULL TILT and hoping for the best. Her music is very similar to my private play list. It was intense!

I am also UP today because I weighed in this morning --- 15. 15 pounds to go! Lowest in a long time... I am back on track and hopefully will find myself at 14 for weigh in tomorrow. I can't wait to see the inches and percentages fall.

I even had a YUMMY lunch today, from my OLD favs. I had a turkey sandwich on an ONION BUN. I topped with Sweet Onion Mustard, Cheddar Cheese and crispy iceberg lettuce. Now before you get all judgemental... I tried a trick with the bun. Onion Buns are my FAV, but they never come in Whole Wheat and honestly they are  A LOT of bread!! To avoid all the carbs I sliced my bun into 3 pieces... leaving the middle piece out. It caught the bun down by a third and I didn't even notice PLUS now I have yummy onion bread to toast for tomorrow's breakfast. Mm....

SIDENOTE: Last BOOT CAMP is hills... grass hills. It is POURING RAIN! We're going to be sliding ALL over the place and muddy as all hell tonight - should be a good time!

Love!

I Spun... and I thought.

Spin: 45 minutes
Calories: 654

I did SPIN and I did push myself, but I just wasn't feeling it today. I am glad I went as I always am BUT my knee was hurting (from last night) and I couldn't go as hard as I wanted to.

I did think a lot during SPIN. The realization that if I keep up with my work-outs, even if it takes years, I will get in shape. I thought about being patient and if I ever thought, 9 months ago, that I would make it this far. Ideally I would get to my goal by the end of the year - just in time to make a new resolution.

I also thought about WHY I do this. Kerrie was back today and her strongest point is motivation. She talks for the majority of her class, but its always little tid-bits about moving forward, pushing on and why you work-out. What is the reason you are in her class on any given day? She asks you to think about at the beginning; before you're sweating and your legs are burning. She asks you to dedicate your work-out to something/someone. 40 minutes later when you can't go any further she asks you again 'Why are you here?' some days I am there because I ate too much the night before, or had a cupcake at lunch. Some days I am there for Richard... and always wanting to be attractive to him. Most days I am there for me. Today I was there for everyone else; everyone who hasn't seen me in months, who called me fat in high school. I was doing this to prove everyone WRONG. I am NOT the fat girl.

I wish my knee hadn't hurt the entire class, because I think that is a DAMN good reason to be there.

Anyways... back to work, lots to do.

I also attached a video... I stole it from Carrie's (BOOT CAMP) Blog. I think it is an amazing commercial and since I work in the media I thought it appropriate to share.

Think about it next time you want to 'sit it out'.

Love!

THREE posts in ONE day!!

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 723

Three TIMES... I am a POSTING machine!

Just got back from Spinning and again Kerrie wasn't there. Nicole is awesome and actually popped my spinning cherry how every many months ago, but Kerrie is my favorite.

I probably shouldn't have participated today. My legs, back and shoulders are in pain from last night and I didn't go nearly as hard as I typically do, but I don't want to hurt myself. After all its better to go and sweat a little less than to sit at my desk and work on the -- who are we kidding? Three posts in one day means I have VERY little work to do.

My thighs were burning, but in a good way. I can feel my body getting stronger even if I am not loosing as much weight as I would like. I am hoping to hit 14 this week... 2 pounds per week would allow it, but you never know.

I am really looking forward to this weekend... Solstice is coming for the WHOLE weekend. Solstice is my very special, very adorable, love of my life niece. She doesn't get to come very often (her Dad lives 3 hours east of me), but when she does its a MESS. We play, bake and shop! This visit she is determined to stay up ALL night! How am I going to do this?!?! We're going to rent lots of movies and see how it goes... I like my sleep, but I love her even more and what ever she wants... is hers. I am the only one that spoils her rotten. She is the oldest of 5 and often plays the part of a parent (just so you don't get the wrong impression).

OH YEA! And great news in the odd to measure arena... my BELT! I have left whole number 4 (and sometimes 5) and moved forward. Remember, I started on hole number 3 (sometimes 2).
So even though the weight isn't coming off as quick as I had hoped. I am still making GREAT progress.

Spinning!

Spinning: 45minutes

KERRIE!! Where are you??? Kerrie was missing again this week. It's THREE weeks I need KERRIE! Ron taught today and was good. He has a different taste in music and leads well, but he is NOT Kerrie. The class was good, but something I am wondering in disbelief... did I really burn MORE calories spinning then BOOT CAMP? No Chance! BOOT CAMP is an insane workout for 60minutes. We run non-stop and lift weights how can I burn LESS calories. I think I seriously need to invest in a heart rate monitor. I might be surprised.

I am not running tonight... I am SORE. My body is aching all over. Its good. I have to go.
