Nutritionist and things...

They say its 80% diet and only 20% exercise. I hate ‘they’. I wish it was all exercise. I wish I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I hit the gym and I hit it hard, but it’s not up to me. And also if it were up to me, no Mondays, ice cream is added to the basic food groups and vegetables make you fat.

Last week I met with a Nutritionist.

I didn’t love it.

I hate being told I am wrong, even when I know I am wrong. I hate being doubted, even when I haven’t give you a reason to believe in me.

I am motivated by doubt, but I don’t like it.

Anyways. I am now working with a very patient Nutritionist. She reviewed my food journal, sent shocks through my body and weighed me. The conclusion. I am a hot mess, with 102lbs of body fat. Gah. What have I been doing at the gym the past 3 months??? Not building muscle. #obvi

She kept my weight a secret (mostly, I saw the number, but ignored it) and went over the test results. I am 40% fat. That’s a lot, like I am morbidly obese. I don’t feel morbidly obese. What do BMIs know anyways??? I have big freaking bones.

Not that it matters, because I am doing something about it, so its ok. It’s ok to start at the bottom, once you’ve found your bottom (regardless of what size your bottom is).

So I’m fat and I don’t want to be. What are we doing about it?

My fitness routine isn’t changing except I am adding a 45 minute walk to lunch hour to get on with the results. I will still do 3 days of cardio and 4 days of weights, plus life. Like running with the boy, walks to the park and sex (is anyone still reading my rambles?).

My diet is getting a complete overhaul. I didn’t think I was THAT terrible. I knew the rules and followed some of them, but it was the other things going on that screwed me. The sugary treats, the Tim Horton’s run and the late night snacking (Eff you DQ).

I eat too many grains. I eat too much sugar (natural and refined). I don’t eat enough protein. And there is some dirty toxin attacking and dehydrating my cells. I am so thirsty.

So I have a page of foods. Its one page and it is all I am allowed to consume. If it is not on the sheet, I can not eat #wordtoyourmother. I am also limited to 2 grains per day and 2 fruits per day (one banana is ALL my fruit for the day. All my fruit in a yellow tube). I MUST consume 3 proteins a day (I get a gold star if I consume more than 3) and one of those MUST be for breakfast.

I can eat all the vegetables I want #yeehaw.
I can’t have any processed sugar.
I made granola. Mmmm…
I have to eat PLAIN greek yogurt and am only allowed milk alternatives.
I have hemp hearts, chia seeds and simply bars.

And that’s it. My first weigh in is April 20th. Let’s see what we can do, prove the haters wrong and conquer that effing scale.

Wish me luck!

Relavance is key here.

So... I have been at this game for 3 years. Through those years I have tracked my weightloss in every way possible for the most motivation. When I didn't lose pounds (and I was really trying) I could see loss in inches or body fat percentage. I have never (on this blog) posted my complete results from the beginning. If you're a long time reader you know how scared I am to reveal my actual weight (I haven't decided if I will share it yet).

**Sometimes it is hard to be organized and I delete things. I am mad right now that I deleted my 2010 note, which contained all my 2010 (ie. starting) numbers. Hmpf. Richard is working on retrieving it, but its a challenge. Sorry!
***When he is done being cranky he said he would help me.
*** FOUND IT!

As you can witness I am going in the right direction. Yes I lose more through the year, but I always gain a little near the end. I am ok with that because I am human. I indulge when I need too (read: want too). The best part of tracking annually is no matter how crummy you feel it all feels better when you look at the big picture... a hard task, when you caught up on a .5lbs gain.

Another interesting revelation today... I am happy to be 204, even proud of myself. Now that is up 6 pounds from my lowest weight, but I am still had to see the scale declining again. The first time I hit 204 (in early 2011) I celebrated my loss, the second time I hit 204 (in late 2011) I cried a little at my failure, and the third time I'm celebrating. I always find it interesting how the same number can be interpreted in so many ways. I like numbers a lot more on the weigh down, but didn't think I would celebrate them the third time around. I also wonder if any of that rambling made sense.

I am thrilled to have lost 9 inches from last year (even more from 2010 if I could find it!),  29 inches overall and 9% body fat (from 2011-12, because I didn't have a good scale for 2010)... which is awesome! I think I may even be 'overweight' now... not obese. woo! (Another weird reason to celebrate). As for actual weight loss... just over 15 pounds, plus the 25 from 2010 means I am down 40 pounds. Which is awsome. Another 20 to go and I will have to stop writing my blog *sniff* because I will be happy with my weight and not trying to battle the bulge anymore. Although I can't imagine a day when I am not trying to lose weight... its been my thing for 25 years.

Although next years review should be weird... hopefully there will be a bun in my oven, so I can't begin to fathom where my weight will be, but good news is... the blog wil be back in running order to lose the baby weight. Aw... relief.

Ha!

That's it... I will up date with my original stats as soon as I have them.

Love!

New Resolution 20-11!!

Yup! It's that time.

First... I am not giving up on 2010. I just know my limits. I am going to continue at the gym and try my best to maintain (and lose) for the remaining weeks of this year...

...BUT I am ready to set my goal for 2011. I am happy with my loss even though I wish it was more. 35 pounds is worth celebrating. Even with TWO vacations and an engagement I still managed to loose 35 pounds and keep it off... that is a success!

As for 20-11... I am hoping to do it ALL over again.

My goal for 2011 is to loose another 35 pounds. I have less hurdles this year... there will be NO vacations, NO excuses and NO reason I can't walk down the aisle in a size 9.

I am NOT going to weigh for the remainder of the year. I am going to hope I loose another couple pounds, but I'm not going to be upset if I don't.

I will start the New Year fresh and ready to go hard! I am considering some help too. I can exercise... we all know I love the gym and I LOVE working up a good sweat. What I need to work on is nutrition. I am hoping to join a program that will teach me how to eat healthy and be full. That way I make a lifestyle change not just maintain a diet.

I have 3 weeks left to enjoy...

Love!

The Holiday week!

Only 10 days! 10 days until the celebrating is over... 10 days until the food stops and I can go back to loosing weight!

I am still making it to the gym 3 times a week, but its not working. My routine just can't compete with the baking, drinking and eating that is happening this month.

Sorry I have been slacking on the posts.

It's busy and I think I am disappointed in myself. As of today there is NO way I will hit my goal of 200. I know I can get to it eventually. I also know loosing 35 pounds is impressive, but not what i was hoping for. I am still calorie counting and working out, but there is nothing I can do about my slow metabolism.

Oh well.

Happy Holidays!

Love!

Typing has become a chore!

Muscle Up: 45minutes
Abs: 15minutes
Calories: 760

Yes, typing has become a chore, but only because Angela decided to focus, and by focus I mean target and attack, arms today. She has us all over the place with different weights and poises.

It was a good class. Wednesday is as close to a rest day as it gets... I don't do any cardio, unless I feel like going for a run in the evening and lately with my knees I haven't been. In fact, my knees are making me nervous, but if you don't discuss it - it can't be true!

Also have you noticed I am getting taller and leaner in my cartoons? I promise that is NOT intentionally... they all start as stick people. Sorry.

I also don't have an after picture... I tried to take one, but it was after BOOT CAMP - literally and it looked terrible. Now my BEFORE picture looks terrible (as expected) but I can't have them both be terrible. This fact (or the difficulty of finding an after pic) is making me work 4 times as hard, because I thought I was further along then I was. I thought I had lost more and was looking better, but I can't seem to find a picture to reflect that and it's bothering me.

While at Muscle Up I also had time to think... while laying my back pretending to do chest presses, that my arms just wouldn't allow... what's next? I have learned that I need something else... kick boxing, Boot Camp etc. I need to have something to hold me accountable. I need to sign up for something BUT I can't spend money (or a very little bit) I came up with a brilliant idea for the fall and winter months... SWIMMING. Yup, that is going to be my after work workout. I am going to swim twice a week. (Richard might even swim with me) I am going to do laps for 45minutes. It's only $4 a session and I think its a great addition to everything else. You've got to keep it fresh, right?

ha! I just remembered... Little Miss Awkward was in class today. Only today she was directly behind me, which means every time I looked in the mirror - there she was stumbling all over the place. I had to contain my laughter. She's trying and I shouldn't laugh, but I can't get over the lack of rhythm this poor girl has. Picture Steve Urkel in a step class... yup, you're laughing. It's funny... but I know karmically I will get repaid with uncoordinated children. After all they say whom ever you pick on for whatever... that is how your kids will turn out, whether its fat, skinny, dumb or smart. Oh well... I can't help but laugh, sorry future off spring.

OK... I have to go. All this doodling has left me behind today.

Love!
