Boot Camp - Day 1

Yes, it is time for another 'day 1'. I feel like I have had a lot of these on this path. I need a beginning to have an end and I needed something to push me into doing this. I know I will be mad at the wedding if I know I didn't try to lose the weight and get in shape. Granted, I won't be perfect... but trying makes it OK to fail. I am putting all I have into this and I will be happy with whatever comes out of it.

I hope.

So I went to Boot Camp and how was it? different. I am sore today, which is good but it wasn't the experience I expected. I remember Boot Camp with Carrie and it was this intense hour of cardio, strength and endurance. This wasn't that.

Carrie's camp was designed for women that wanted to lose weight... ie. cardio.

John's camp is designed for men that want to build muscle... ie. weights.

I am not sure how I feel about it all yet. I am just glad I ran my 5k Monday at lunch, which partnered well with a heavy strength Boot Camp.

Now the dirt... the gym was, as I explained before, 'a work in progress'. The people are amazing... Paul was our instructor and it just happen that John was beside me in class, great. The camp is inside within the 'gym' and I felt very exposed. The average gym-goer could stand and watch us work, which, as a newbie, was intimidating. All the equipment is provided (which I like) and the guidance is very hands on. Carrie was less about posture and more about sweat, where as John is more about posture, I like the guidance to know I am getting the most out of my work out and not straining anything (that shouldn't be strained).

Then we worked... no warm up, no laps, no jumping jacks just straight into the weights. Now that I know the format I will come early and hop on the treadmill for a quick run before camp. We did work with the ball and a step, weights and each other. It felt competitive but motivating. I wanted to keep up with everyone else, which proved to be a challenge... I was the only fattie in the camp... everyone one else was tight and toned (and struggle just as much as me... go me!).

I didn't leave breathless and covered in sweat, but I left satisfied. I will go back but more because I paid for it and less because I enjoyed it.

I am hoping Wednesday's camp is a bit more exciting.

I have spinning today... so we'll see how that goes with my tired legs.

I think my routine works now... I have cardio here, at my gym (at work), I have arms/strength in boot camp and I have abs and back with personal training... if this doesn't work to kick start my weight loss I don't know what will.

Wish me continued luck!

I did it.

I got sucked into the hype! I now have a personal trainer AND I signed up for Boot Camp. Hmpf. What can I say the adrenaline was pumping and I was sweaty... sweaty and happy, which made me willingly hand over my credit card. Hmpf.

That aside I am pretty excited about working with John (my new trainer) and testing out Boot Camp. I love taking on new fitness challenges... they work for me and I can't wait to see what will happen over the next 5 weeks. Yes, 5 weeks of pain. Ironically it all wraps up the week of my next dress fitting.... I am hoping for inches loss and aiming for 15-20lbs of loss.

We'll see.

Now the experience. I had a 'consultation' last night, this was to include a 'chat' and an introductory work out. I was nervous (I always am heading to a new gym) and anxious to get on with it. I found the gym (on the far side of Burlington) and was a little disappointed when I first walked in... there was a smell, the place was disorganized and unfinished. I was little concerned, but I waited at the front and finally a incredibly buff guy greeted me. I knew by the intensity in his eyes it was John. The very same John I tried to cancel on a week earlier. We shook hands and he handed me a stack of paperwork to fill out. I sat at a rickety old table with a empty pen and did my best to fill out the paper work all the while wondering if I was wasting my time. After about 20minutes (I was early and her was with a client) he came to say hello. In those 20 minutes though I had met a group of older women who had nothing but praise for John and the gym.

Anyways I meet with John and he goes over my, what think are impressive, papers. I am already doing so many of the things he suggests... including water intake, vitamins, limit caffeine, dairy and wheat. I think he is intrigued, We venture into his office for a closed door meeting... the nitty gritty of what I need and why I need it. At this point I find out that the venue is new, like 3 weeks new, and the renos aren't done, but due to circumstances they had to move early... all my concerns, were in the process of correction... correction to the point of awesome and I can't wait to see the finished product.

I told John that his intensity scared me... that I was nervous about the pain he would inflict on me if I decided to stay with me. He laughed, but seemed excited to work with me as well. I weighed in... (ew) and he measured me... then we hit the gym. I was excited to show him all I had accomplished over the last 2 years... he was going to be impressed by my skill level - ha!

I started on the treadmill for 5 minutes at his pace (exhausting) and then we grabbed a mat and hit the floor. After 20 minutes of intense (and painful) floor exercises I was sweating and throbbing, but in love. I knew I was a goner and I would sign up for anything he asked for... it didn't stop there... than we started legs (that were already aching) and arms. Every exercise was quick and concise... I didn't have a second to think or get bored. I was so charged afterwards... I love a good work out, a good sweat. I love making a difference and feeling like I am on my way to something.

John will lead me to something.

After it all I poured my sweaty, lumpy body into a chair and asked 'what's next?' He said I could sign up for Boot Camp. I asked 'what is I want more?' (because I did). He told me I could do the introductory package for personal training, which was 4 action packed sessions. I did some mental calculating (do my own hair for the wedding, tan outside and use the make up I have) I could afford 5 weeks. And so i signed up for 5 weeks... because I would rather lose the weight and feel good at my wedding than be tanned in perfection.

I start on Monday. I am so sore today, but can't wait for Monday. 5 weeks... wish me luck!

Love! (and pain)

OMP House of HORRORS!

BOOT CAMP Circuit: 45minutes
ABS: 10minutes
Calories: 500+

Again today I didn't feel like going to the gym. I have a LONG weekend (not because of actual length, but because of busy-i-ness) a head of me and frankly working out is an inconvenience. Lucky for me… its now routine and I feel weird sitting at my desk from noon to 1. So I grabbed my bag, full of fresh gym clothes and headed downstairs. I have NO plan. I get down there and stand in line… I don't know what for, but it’s a long line of fit people so I stand. When I finally get to the head of the line it’s a sign-up sheet for BOOT CAMP with BAMBI! AH!

I am NOT ready for this, but with a pizza lunch. I had NO choice.

I walked into the empty 'class room' it was cold and dark. The lights weren't on. I got a chill up and down my spine. The goose bumps on arm had goose bumps. Side note: The FINISH word for 'Goose Bumps" directly translates to 'Chicken Skin'… or at least that's what Uncle Manfred for me… He's from Finland). Slowly wary gym goers trickle in, all with a look of panic. They knew what was a head and they looked panicked. I knew I was in over my head. I knew I was in for a work out.

Finally someone speaks…

"I am not ready for this" Said the little hairy man (who would later bump me out of my spot, but literally standing in my spot).

"I haven't been in two weeks and I am still sore" Said a slim woman in full Lulu gear.

Aimlessly we wandered around the room. Trying to keep warm, to prepare ourselves for what was to come.

Suddenly the lights flick on and there is BAMBI.

ha Ha HA!

She smiles so wide and looks so innocent, but quickly gets to work setting up the circuit of death.

Station #1 - Non-stop push-ups
Station #2 - Plank
Station #3 - High Knees
Station #4 - Backward lunges
Station #5 - Step Ups and squats
Station #6 - Backwards row
Station #7 - Hopscotch (Hopping from corner to corner)
Station #8 - Wall Squats (Sitting on an invisible chair with 10lbs in each hand… above your head)
Station #9 - Sprints
Station #10 - Lateral raises
Station #11 - Jumping Jacks
Station #12 - Balance on the Exercise Ball (on your knees)
Station #13 - Jump Ups (Jump on the step, squat and jump off)
Station #14 - Bicep Curl with Forward Lunges
Station #15 - Fast Feet
And finally…
Station #16 - Burpies

All seems feasible, but you rotate every 60 seconds. By station three my muscles are shaking. Beads of sweat trickle down my back and she smiles and she screams 'HARDER'. Each time the whistle blows you breath a small sigh of relief before the next punishment. She is ALWAYS watching. Every pause for a breath she sees and demands more. Every hesitation she catches and pushes you further. It's all a game and she's making the rules.

Terrible words fall my lips as I try to keep pace. Sweat stings my eyes. I push on.

Finally it ends. I collapse in a pile on the floor. I am sweating, shaking and moaning. I am tired. I am exhausted. I am fulfilled. I love her class. I love it so much even with nothing left I stay for ABS.

Now I sit at my desk, full of pizza wondering if it was all worth it.

Happy Halloween everybody!

Love!

*** I weighed in, but with the time of the month I am not logging it. I didn't gain. As for push-ups. I did 42 last night.

Hills!

BOOT CAMP (hills): 60minutes
Calories: 1000ish

First... I need new running shoes. My knees are starting to suffer and I can't risk it. I also can't afford it, but its a necessary evil. So I will spend the money. (yay! I am getting new shoes).

I desperately didn't want to go to BOOT CAMP last night. I am over it. This is my life... I find something I LOVE. I become obsessed with it and then... I loose interest, get bored and stop doing it. 8 weeks appears to be enough for me.

In fact, I am going to base my next great love on this scale and see if at 8weeks I still 'love' it.

However, you know how this fairy tale ends, because just above the black typing it shows you I did go to BOOT CAMP last night. I did run the hills... the stairs and I did do everything else I was told.

Near the end I looked something like this...

But I still did it and that is what really matters. We started normally... laps. Then we split into groups and ran up the hill and down the hill -- up the stairs and down the stairs. Good times.

I am not overly enthusiastic right now, I weigh in every morning. Most Monday's I am up... in fact EVERY Monday I am up. Typically by Wednesday (and three work-outs in) I am back on track. Not this Wednesday. I still up. Which means I won't be down on Friday... damn it.

BUT who can focus on that... today is our TWO year anniversary (not mine and YOURS... mine and Richards). Yay! Granted we celebrated on the weekend, but today is the REAL day. Two years ago today a freshed faced 23 year snuck into my downtown apartment in the middle of the night with a stuffed oil drop (Ollie, from his recent trip to the oil fields) and a can of Red Bull... to help me stay up ALL night and talk. It was great... who knew two years later I would love him more than ever and be on our way to a REAL life together.

Oh so! Love you x3 always, forever and after.

Love!

Damage!

BOOT CAMP: 60minutes (in the RAIN)
Calories: 1000

By the title you know there are some JUICY details. Yup, I have sustained damage. I am not thrilled, but know I have to keep my body safe from harm and healthy.

First, it was pouring rain for MOST of the camp. It was also bitterly cold. I was in a tank top, t-shirt and sweatshirt.
This is me shivering with my teeth chattering.

We continued with the very REAL Boot Camp... real as in soldier style; RAIN or SHINE! I always give 110% I am paying to be there. I am there to lose weight... thus I don't complain or slack off.

On a side note... it drives me crazy the ladies that come to BOOT CAMP and don't give it their all. I mean you paid to be here. You want to get fit... yet you complain about everything and constantly slack off. I see what got you to this point... you're lazy. It drives me crazy, even more so when my little group of four was making fun of me as I started the circuit... all because Carrie hadn't blown the whistle yet. Honestly, if I can squeak in a few extra lunges... GOOD for ME!

Anyways... back to my damage. So I am running the cross FULL TILT when my belly starts to cramp. Not a that-time-of-the-month cramp, but a cramp I have NEVER felt before. It actually slows me down. Turns out the heavy exercise (2 boot camps in a row) has upset my digestive system. This made for a very uncomfortable even of 'gases' moving their way through my system. On top of that I twisted my knee... more so than normal and rolled my ankle. They say everything happens in threes, but COME ON!

I am walking with a bit of a limp today and haven't decided what I am doing... I could go to the gym and spin. It's really easy on your joints and still burns a lot of calories. I could skip the lunch work out and head to BOOT CAMP tonight. Still push myself, but not to the point of destruction.

I won't feel right if I just sit around and wait to feel better. I also rest for 2 days on the weekend... hence the BIG work-outs during the week.

I am already upset, because apparently all my hard work has a paid me back in weight gain... 10 is like my unicorn. I want to believe I will see it, but I just can't get there, because maybe it doesn't exist! argh!

On top of all that... I have a work thingy that is smack dab in the middle of my day. I don't want to go, but I think I have too. BOO!

Ok... back to training the new guy.

I will let you know what I decide to do.

Love!

Circuit Training...

BOOT CAMP: 60minutes
Calories: 1000 (ish)

I hate Circuit training... for the record. I just want to throw that into the universe and see what I get back. Will it be more Circuit training? Or perhaps the best results from the hated circuit training. Who knows how the universe will interpret my plea.

All that being said... I am going to BOOT CAMP three times this week. I lost track over the weekend... I was sick and bloated, angry and tired. I didn't run (as scheduled) I barely stayed below my calories, but I promise I am paying for it now. I am happiest when my muscles ACHE.

Last nights BOOT CAMP was different then any other. I had fun. I didn't tire and I barely sweat... that is more thanks to the heavy winds than my fitness level, but I woke up this morning on track this morning so the pain was worth the gain.

By different I mean... skate boards, police tape and gas cans. Those were just SOME of our tools for circuit training. I swear Carrie lays awake at night dreaming of ways to torture us. She is so funny! Picture... wait you don't need too.

And yes... she is really that fit. Unlike MY cartoons this is realistically what she looks like. And she is always catching me! From across the field I'll hear 'Melanie! Let's get going!!' I hate to disappoint so whatever I am doing I do BETTER, HARDER and STRONGER... while she is watching. I swear I stop for ONE second and that's when I get caught! Typically she has a great nickname for you... most of the time it reflects your current weeks indiscretions. Last week I was 'PUB' because I shared my awkward lunch at a pub that week.

It keeps everything fun and we (the other victims of BOOT CAMP torture) laugh along. It's a lot of fun and I am really going to miss it.

I am off to muscle up this afternoon... or body blast... or something. It's a new schedule and I don't really know what I am in for. Wish me luck.

Love!

Introducing the BAND!

BOOT CAMP: 60minutes
Calories: LOTS

**As much as you have faith in me... I am writing this while chewing on a FUDGEEO... you know the perfectly round chocolate delight. I felt like I would be deceitful if I didn't share that with you. Please don't judge me.

Last night was BOOT CAMP. My first this week... and sadly the first of my last week of the goods. Next week is circuit, which I am NOT overly good at and the next week is hills which KILLS me.

Last night Carrie introduced...

The EXERCISE BAND!

Yes, it was as hard as it looked. Yes, I made that face while using it. And yes, I am SORE this morning.

If you aren't familiar with this band let me give you a formal introduction...

Loyal reader, unholy-pain-inducing-utterly-ridiculously-strong Band.

Band, Loyal reader.

Consider yourself introduced. My introduction was not so easy. We started with simple partner work. Your partner would lasso you into this torture device and you, in turn, would try to run away like a galloping horse. To add to this (for your enjoyment) we are doing this on the side of the road while cars drive by and laugh. When it is your turn to lasso your partner it DOES NOT get easier. Now you have to do lunges WHILE your partner tries to get away attached only by the band.

Then there are the bicep curls, tricep lifts and chest presses with the band under your feet.

Then (oh yes, there is more) you work with hills (and your partner). Again being lasso'd you walking lunge up the hill, while your partner tries to stop you with the giant elastic band o' pain. Side shuffle up the ever growing hill. Run up the now mountainous hill and finally alone with your band do SIDE steps.

This is not easy... in fact, Carrie had to stop because she was laughing SO hard at our feeble attempts to walk towards her while 'banded'. In this exercise you stand on the band holding the handles. Now... step to the side and forward WHILE keeping the band under foot. Then feet together and do the other leg... not so easy. The band doesn't want to stay under your foot and the resistance is pulling on you 'but' muscle like you wouldn't believe. Even the few co-ordinated people in the crowd were stumbling all over them selves.

Finally, when you can't handle ANY more you lay on the ground... with the band. First, we hooked it to our feet and did leg extensions. Then we hooked it to our feet and did leg raises. THEN we hooked it to our feet and did FULL sit-ups. Everything is burning at this point - EVERYTHING!

It's incredibly HOT and I am covered in sweat. This BOOT CAMP feels like it has gone on for DAYS... finally at 8pm Carrie blows the whistle and we are free to... fall lifeless to the ground, panting heavily.

And with all that being said... I can't wait till Thursday to do it ALL over again.

Love!

WEIGH IN!

BOOT CAMP: 60minutes
Calories: 1000 ish

I am here... sitting front of my computer with only 12 pounds left to loose -- 12! I can not believe I am here. Less than a year ago I was the 'fat' girl. I didn't want to go out, because my clothes didn't fit. I avoided cameras and mirrors (hence the struggle to find before and after pics). I felt sad and alone. I didn't think I would EVER get to this point... let along 12 pounds from now. WAIT for that blog... it will all be in capitals.

So this morning... before the sun came up, I weighed in. I have lost 12 pounds since the re-start, 33 overall. I lost another 2 inches this week bringing my total to 7.5 inches lost (25.5 total).

AND the best part... I can share everything with Richard. There is no secret about what I am doing... usually talking weight loss is taboo. It's like saying I lost 40 pounds implies at one point I had 40 pounds to loose -- that is something to struggle with, but at every victory I get a hug and a high five.

I can't wait for the wedding... I love getting dressed up, especially now that things fit better. I am comfortable as me. Don't think this is the end... I won't give up yet. I have another 12 to loose this year and another 25 next year.

Ok... I have lost ALL focus!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Love!

Rested, Relaxed and Sore!

Boot Camp: 60minutes
Calories: 1000 (ish)

I started back at BOOT CAMP... and the first thought 'how am I EVER going to function with out BOOT CAMP?'

I love it. I love the energy, the people and (mostly) the results. It's a great routine at night... I come home, make lunch and dinner, eat and go. I get home, shower and drift off to a beautiful sleep.

Week One and Two are BY FAR my favorite weeks... its just a lot of chaos. You never know what is going to happen, leaving NO time to get bored. It's all over before you know it.

I am a little sore today, but that's what I hope for while I am at BOOT CAMP.

It's amazing how different ROUND 2's first session was compared to ROUND 1. I couldn't believe how much easier I found it. And by NO means am I saying its 'easy' just easier.

I can't believe I ever felt anything less than elated through this process, but I guess with ups and downs there are bound to be a few BAD days, but I am happy they are punctuated by GOOD days.

I even weighed in this morning at my lowest weight yet... I realize it is NOT official until Friday, but I am still thrilled to feel like I am getting somewhere and I am SO close to my goal. I feel energized and ready to take on the next challenge.

It helps that my old clothes fit again... My PJ's fall off me and I love what I see when I look in the mirror.

I am going to post a BEFORE and AFTER pic... just as soon as I get one. I have Aunt Cindy's wedding this weekend and I will be sure to get a good pic.

Love!

The BIG 3-0!

Boot Camp: 60minutes
Calories: 1000 (ish)

Yup! Hit the BIG 30 pounds today! I have lost 30 pounds - WOO! It feel so good. I can't wait to keep going! My body feels better and I am noticing more flexible and comfort in everyday things.

My biggest 'I-can't-wait' moment is this Saturday when I see all my girlfriends that I haven't seen in months! I can't wait to walk in 30 pounds lighter and get the looks.

I feel like I have hit a milestone... to think 9 months later I am still working at it. I typically give up around 4months. I have 14 pounds to go until I hit my FIRST goal and make my New Years resolution a reality!

As for BOOT CAMP... it was a GREAT session and I feel like I went out on a high note. I won't be going back Monday, but I will jump in for the next 4 week session late September. I think it will push me over the edge and get me on target for October... according to Loseit! I will reach my goal weight in October.

Off to an exciting weekend... dinner with family tonight and a bachelorette on Saturday!! Can't wait.

Love!

Last BOOT CAMP tonight *sad face*

Spinning: 45minutes
Calories: 753

Today was a free-for-all. I didn't have a plan beyond... whatever Sandi was doing, I was doing. I brought gym clothes and prepared for something. Thursday are always a little iffy. I never know whether to run or take a class. Spin is good when its the good instructor, but its often a substitute. Body Blast is great, but not as much cardio as I would like and Running... I am typically sore and tired by Thursday PLUS I have BOOT CAMP tonight so I don't want to over work my legs.

Anyways... we decided to chance SPIN class and I am SO GLAD we did. Erin taught today... she is the toughest teacher... there is no break, no recovery... for 45minutes you are going FULL TILT and hoping for the best. Her music is very similar to my private play list. It was intense!

I am also UP today because I weighed in this morning --- 15. 15 pounds to go! Lowest in a long time... I am back on track and hopefully will find myself at 14 for weigh in tomorrow. I can't wait to see the inches and percentages fall.

I even had a YUMMY lunch today, from my OLD favs. I had a turkey sandwich on an ONION BUN. I topped with Sweet Onion Mustard, Cheddar Cheese and crispy iceberg lettuce. Now before you get all judgemental... I tried a trick with the bun. Onion Buns are my FAV, but they never come in Whole Wheat and honestly they are  A LOT of bread!! To avoid all the carbs I sliced my bun into 3 pieces... leaving the middle piece out. It caught the bun down by a third and I didn't even notice PLUS now I have yummy onion bread to toast for tomorrow's breakfast. Mm....

SIDENOTE: Last BOOT CAMP is hills... grass hills. It is POURING RAIN! We're going to be sliding ALL over the place and muddy as all hell tonight - should be a good time!

Love!

I Spun... and I thought.

Spin: 45 minutes
Calories: 654

I did SPIN and I did push myself, but I just wasn't feeling it today. I am glad I went as I always am BUT my knee was hurting (from last night) and I couldn't go as hard as I wanted to.

I did think a lot during SPIN. The realization that if I keep up with my work-outs, even if it takes years, I will get in shape. I thought about being patient and if I ever thought, 9 months ago, that I would make it this far. Ideally I would get to my goal by the end of the year - just in time to make a new resolution.

I also thought about WHY I do this. Kerrie was back today and her strongest point is motivation. She talks for the majority of her class, but its always little tid-bits about moving forward, pushing on and why you work-out. What is the reason you are in her class on any given day? She asks you to think about at the beginning; before you're sweating and your legs are burning. She asks you to dedicate your work-out to something/someone. 40 minutes later when you can't go any further she asks you again 'Why are you here?' some days I am there because I ate too much the night before, or had a cupcake at lunch. Some days I am there for Richard... and always wanting to be attractive to him. Most days I am there for me. Today I was there for everyone else; everyone who hasn't seen me in months, who called me fat in high school. I was doing this to prove everyone WRONG. I am NOT the fat girl.

I wish my knee hadn't hurt the entire class, because I think that is a DAMN good reason to be there.

Anyways... back to work, lots to do.

I also attached a video... I stole it from Carrie's (BOOT CAMP) Blog. I think it is an amazing commercial and since I work in the media I thought it appropriate to share.

Think about it next time you want to 'sit it out'.

Love!

Things are looking UP!

BOOT CAMP: 60minutes (hills)
Calories: 1000

Straight up a ridiculously STEEP hill!

Last night at BOOT CAMP we started 'Hills'. This means a brand new BOOT CAMP location... in a valley surrounded by the scariest, tallest, steepest hills I have ever seen.

And as the names suggests... you run UP the hill and DOWN the hill. You take a BRIEF break to run UP the stairs and DOWN the stairs. All of that mixed with squats, lunges, burpies, mountain climbers, push-ups, knuckle squats, jumping jacks and calve raises.

My legs were burning... sweat was pouring off of me and I though at one point I was going to die. It was awesome. Carrie is VERY motivational and incredible quick... she always has the perfect comeback to ANY complaint. She makes working out FUN. I am going to miss BOOT CAMP. I don't know whether I will continue and to what capacity, but I hope to do it again in the future.

She also asked me a perplexing question... "Why do you run?" the build up to this question was me asking for help with the the BAD bra ouchies... I have discussed them in the past, but to prevent you from back tracking... they are severe burns I get just under my chest from my bra. Anyways... I explained that I run almost 30k a week... and she asked 'why?'. I thought about it a lot on the drive home. And honestly I run because I don't know what else to do. I am fat and I hate it. I run because it makes me sweat and makes me feel like I am doing something about being fat. I don't know if it works... or how well, but I simply don't know what else to do. So I run.

On the upside... Carrie recommend Aveeno calming lotion with Oatmeal... it stings at first, but feels better in the long run. I am also going to take a break from running to let them heal... once they do. I am going to try Vaseline... that should be fun. I will let you know how it goes.

Today also marks DAY ONE on my Nivea 'Good Bye Cellulite' regime... in 2 weeks I should have noticeably smoother skin. Interesting concept... and worth the 12 dollars. I saw the test done on Tyra... it seemed successful in all cases and I thought I would give it a try. With all this hard work I need to have some perks.

I also read my 150 things I hate list to Richard last night and had a GOOD laugh at myself. Hope you did too.

Love!

I ran... sort of.

I am not even going to mark the calories... or even count this as a REAL blog. I am entering because I did go to the gym with EVERY intention of getting a good work-out, but when I found out my class was cancelled... well it all went down hill from there.

My MUSCLE UP class was cancelled because of a guru visiting. He was performing a meditation ceremony for all those that paid extra... doesn't seem very 'yoga-esque' but still he has to make a living. Anyways without any notice MUSCLE UP was cancelled and already at the gym I was determined to get a work-out.

I didn't know what run was up next, but I hit the treadmill anyways. I set it for 45 minutes and starting running. I don't even think you can call it 'running' I was hobbling like and injured rhino. My muscles are STILL sore from Monday/Tuesday. I got to 13minutes and died. I stayed on the treadmill for the entire 45minutes, but did walking hills instead. I am sure I burned calories, but no where near what I wanted and with how the scale is behaving this week I should have ran; I should have ran hard.

I got off the machine and stretched... my GOD, did it feel good! I love BOOT CAMP, but we don't stretch nearly enough. I think after BOOT CAMP I will go to ONE hot yoga session to smooth things over.

I have BOOT CAMP tonight! Circuit training again - yay! I hate it, but its a KILLER work-out.

Wish me luck!

Love!

Circuit Training at BOOT CAMP

BOOT CAMP: 60 minutes (Circuit Training)
Calories: 1000

Wow. Simply Wow. I was nervous about BOOT CAMP. This week is circuit training and I feared I wouldn't see the results I wanted (I have a lot of weekend mis-happenings to undo). I thought circuit training would be ALL weights and I needed cardio.

I. Was. Wrong.

Every part of me is sore. Carrie had us running all over the place. TWO warm up laps and a running station within the circuit. There were TEN stations and we spent about 3 minutes at each.

1. Sit-ups/Crunches with a body bar... 20 of each and switch, until the whistle blows

2. Running with a twist. You start with 2 jumps over a pylon. You run to the next pylon and drop a knee, alternating at the next pylon. Run to the next and squat. Run back. Continue until the whistle blows.

3. Tire run. Pick up a tire (motorcycle) and with it over your head do walking lunges to the end of the curb and, with tire in tow, run back to start. Continue until the whistle blows.

4. Skip.

5. Lift the GAS CAN. First with a squat press and then a bicep curl. 20 of each and repeat.

6. Run.

7. Elastic Band lunges. With an elastic band wrapped around a light post doing forward lunges with a forward press.

8. Ladder run. Ladders are laying flat on the ground and you have to 'hopscotch' through them.

9. Sand Bag Twist. Pick up the 20lbs sand bag and do 20 twists and run up the hill with the bag. Repeat, until the whistle blows.

10. With a 15lbs weight squat and swing the weight to eye level. Harder than it looks.

Then we RAN another lap and hit the circuit again, for a minute each station.

On top of sweating in the humidity it was rain... not BIG FAT fun rain, but misty make-everything-slippery-rain.

I got into my car and sunk into the seat. I was sopping wet and ready for a goods night sleep. I got a good nights sleep and today I am tired and happy; only one pound up from the weekend - woo!

I have spinning today... scary. I don't know how my legs will fare, but we're going to but them to the test.

Love!

Yay! Out of RESTART mode... back at original goal!

Boot camp: 60minutes
Calories: 1000 (or so Carrie says)

Why am I not MORE excited? I am the lightest I have been in years. I am out of the re-goal (to loose anything I had gained over holiday) and back on track. Yet I am in a FOUL mood this morning.

The important stuff is... I am down 8 pounds (29 in total). I measured quickly and didn't bring it with me, but I think I am down at least another inch. And the scale wouldn't give me body fat % this morning. See... everything isn't going well and its not even 9am.

I just get so involved with the drama in my house... its like house school, but with adults. It is exhausting... some one is always cranking AND I planned a night away, by myself. I organized with my Aunt and cousin to have a relaxing night in. That blew up when people wanted to invited. The very people I am trying to get a break from. Looks like Melanie looses out again and her night off is now about some one else. Its just upsetting because I was SO excited.

I guess that is what rained on my weight-loss parade.

Although this blog is about fitness and drama at home doesn't burn calories so I shouldn't even be discussing.

BOOT CAMP! Carrie has returned and in traditional fashion beat us up last night. I love BOOT CAMP... honestly I hate it while I am there, but I give 100% and love the results. We ran all over the place last night....  did a million sit-ups and squats. I am not sore today, but will be tomorrow.

Lots of work to get done.

Love!

Back from the LONG weekend!

BOOTCAMP: 60minutes (with a TRUE drill Sargent!)
Running: 45minutes (35 run-9run/walk-1walk)
Calories: 1317

It's Tuesday!! And offically August, that feels SO odd. I can't believe how quick this year is flying by... We just finished the AUGUST long weekend and it was uneventful, but fun. I don't have any clever antidotes.

I made it out for a run on Sunday... Friday was - well... I hate running on Fridays. Saturday we were on the bikes ALL day and it rained, but I hit the pavement Sunday and did the HARDEST boot camp ever on Monday. I feel good about it. I made a small victory on the scale this morning so I am GOOD. I am BACK at the weight Loseit! thinks I am... i.e. I RE-LOST everything I gained in June (over my holiday) and good Christmas it has been difficult!!

I have to start looking at food (mainly BAD foods) in a new light. Is it worth ALL the work to burn it off? 9 times out of 10 it is not. I am getting better, but have to remind myself constantly of the pain I felt in BOOT CAMP. The stress and pressure of running ALL the time. I need to make a change and I am hoping I have finally hit that wall that will push me into a healthy lifestyle. I have 17 pounds to go until I am HAPPY and then another 25 to be successful.

The POLL closed and apparently Bridal Showers ARE a scam!

I also want to send out a CONGRATULATIONS to... me! I posted the most I have ever posted in July! Yay!

Love!
